“Great attitude is like a perfect cup of coffee – don’t start you day without it.”
A new morning marks a new beginning. It’s like a new opportunity to start your life all over again. Maybe not possible in the real sense of the term, but as an individual person, we can vow to be a different and improved individual from yesterday. We can change to a positive attitude, kick a bad habit, start a good habit – these personal changes that we wish to make could be started early in the morning marking a new beginning.
Most people have some morning rituals with which they start their day. Some do meditation or yoga, some invest their mornings to exercise, some to gardening and some just take a walk or jog around the corner. To all these activities you can add reading an inspirational quote in the mornings to get the correct impetus to go on with the day. A little note of positivity helps to start the day on the right note. It helps us to hold on to the positive attitude till the day ends.
Bernard Williams aptly said:
“There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope.”
Every day has its share of challenges and problems for us to solve. Night closes in with a promise of a new day, retains a flicker of hope that the next day would be a better one and that the solutions to the problems of today will be found in the new day tomorrow. Hope is a very strong medicine for the human heart to hold on and move forward.
The daily routine of day and night and what the hidden message it has for us is beautifully summarised by Arthur Schopenhauer:
“Each day is a little life: every waking and rising a little birth, every fresh morning a little youth, every going to rest and sleep a little death.”
The metaphor of birth and death to describe morning and night is very romantic. Indeed when we wake up in the morning, there is birth of new ideas, new hopes for the day and life in general. However as the day ends, the hopes for the day die as well as the realization that one day from our life is done and dusted.
This quote by Jim Carrey is a little scary, but that is really the crux of life:
“I wake up some mornings and sit and have my coffee and look out at my beautiful garden, and I go, ‘Remember how good this is. Because you can lose it.’”
Life is uncertain. We do not know what the next day holds for us. So it is best to appreciate and be thankful for what we have. And what could be a better time than at the start of the day to reflect on the good things in life. The thought that we could lose it anytime makes us appreciate the thing much more and find its true value in life. This is true for Jim Carrey’s garden as well as people in your life. It is good to start your day feeling thankful about the things and people that are there in your life.
Yoko Ono reveals an interesting experiment, that she swears by:
“Smile in the mirror. Do that every morning and you’ll start to see a big difference in your life.”
She believes that if we look at ourselves in the mirror every morning and smile at us, it has a positive impact on our life. Practicing this ritual everyday will give a boost to our self confidence. We will start the day on a positive note and go on to achieve more out of the day.
Morning is the time for people to reflect on their life and their actions. Prayer and meditation occupies the list of things to do in the morning for many people. Just as Mahatma Gandhi said:
“Prayer is the key of the morning and the bolt of the evening.”
The serenity of the mornings itself create an environment for one to get in touch with the almighty. Also when you begin the day by getting in touch with your God, you are sure to be led on the right direction. Your mind will be calmer and you will feel confident going about doing your business. You can express your thanks to the almighty and start your day just as F. Sionil Jose does each day, he says:
“When I wake up every morning, I thank God for the new day.”
And then there are people like Sonia Sotomayor who says:
“I am a New Yorker, and 7:00 A.M. is a civilized hour to finish the day, not to start it.”
These night owls party the entire night and end up on the bed in the morning. They have completely different sets of time preferences and no morning person can relate to that. However, once they get up they do start a new day, albeit not with the rising sun. These morning routines become applicable to them then.
Like other morning rituals, reading an inspirational quote every morning helps to keep us motivated and on the right track. A random good thought in the morning is capable to give us the direction to take for the day. These days there are numerous means by which one can read a motivational quotes every day. You can subscribe to a quotation service who will email you a quote every morning. There are various apps which will allow you to read one on your phone. Then there are services who will call you in the morning and read to you an inspirational quotation. Apart from these you can always Google some great quotation sites for your daily dose of inspiration. Whatever you do, remember to start your day with a good thought, it will help you to remain positive and focused on your work for the day.
Why reading morning quotes every day is so important
If I may say “A quote a day keeps negativity away”. Reading a motivational quote every morning, prepares us for the rest of the day. It adds a perspective to our routine. It is a bit of positive energy thrown at us to get up and face the day.
There are many hurdles and heartbreaks that each of us has to face during the day. Sometime, the burden of the previous day rolls over to the new day. These are the days specially when there is a need for a little push, a few words of encouragement and strength to help us move on. These little bundles of wisdom act like a boomerang that brings our heads and hearts back to work.
A good quote is like that little nut with a power punch idea or a thought packed in it. The thought is expressed in a manner that hits hard or is very different than how we see things. It usually shows a new direction to look at things or situations. There is a sea of possibilities hidden in a good quote and the reader just has to fish as many meanings as possible.
A universal thought however is more readily understood and holds good for someone in Africa or in the US, in the medieval ages or today. These thoughts usually speak about the human nature. The basic human nature is same across time and space and so these thoughts strike us immediately with their remarkableness. For example:
“Action may not always bring happiness; but there is no happiness without action.” – Benjamin Disraeli
One may not know who Benjamin Disraeli is, but the words he spoke are very true. This is an example of a universal thought as it is true for you and me and the person selling ice cream in Greenland!
Thanks to my best friend, I started receiving a positive quote every morning in my inbox from a website dealing with quotes. Initially, I was a little reluctant to read them each day. But soon it caught on with me. That is when I realized the effect these quotes were having on me. I was becoming more disciplined, I was better managing my time, I started taking care of myself as a result I could take better care of my family. The positives suddenly started rolling out.
The difficult situations at work or at home suddenly stopped bothering me. With each quote I would find my own meaning and direction to go in my life. These quotes became my guiding light and magically they would provide the right solutions to the everyday problems. The success of each day made me hopeful and I would look forward to the next day and the next quote.
One quote everyday has been going on in my life for some time now and it has worked wonders. These days I am found recommending the quote services to all and sundry for the profound benefits one gets with these.
